A slow day on the boardwalk... During our week in OCNJ, we had some cloudy, cool weather, so I had fun shooting in the afternoon when it would ordinarily be too warm.

Morning light is my favorite light on the beach... and for the past few years, I've run into groups of women surfing just after sunrise.

Love the rocks on the beach... and, sometimes, I just think that black and white captures the mood better than color does.

I have an ongoing project (of sorts) where I shoot street-ish images of people taking pictures with their phones. It keeps me entertained, and I generally don't have to look far before I find someone with their phone out. I laughed out loud as I shot this one. There's just something about the way the dog is looking the opposite direction while the person is taking a photo.

Evening on the beach in
Sea Isle City... My kids were headed into the arcade, but I snuck up to the beach for a few quick photos. Couldn't resist a shot of this couple walking along the water.

This is one of those images that surprised me. I headed out before sunrise, giving myself about 10 extra minutes because it was so humid, and I knew I'd need to let the lens warm up and stop fogging up. This was a quick test shot, looking southwest down the beach. I ended up loving it, so I'm glad the lens was no longer fogged up.

On one morning that I went out to shoot at sunrise, there was a low layer of clouds right at the horizon. So, instead of the actual sunrise, I caught the belated sunrise above the clouds.

Slow shutters and water hitting the rocks just can't be beat. This time, I kept the color. I love that moss growing on the rocks, but it makes them so slippery!

This sweet Vizsla was having such a blast crashing through the waves. I even got to say hi and give him a scratch when his owner came over to say hi.

I have mixed feelings about the lensball... I contemplated one for years, and only recently decided to make the purchase. I'm still figuring out the right combination of lens/camera settings to get a good image. I played with it a bit on the beach, and this was one of the ones that turned out OK.

Can we just agree that all fishing attire should be made in that lovely color of yellow? This boy's shirt caught my eye immediately... I loved the way it popped against the water on the grey, cloudy day.

Here's another image of a fisherman with a good t-shirt color! These guys were up early because I snapped this just before sunrise and they were already out in the water fishing.

Every beach vacation must eventually come to an end, which means I eventually have to start shooting non-beach images again. I decided to shoot some quick self portraits out in the yard in an attempt to gain some inspiration.

I came home from the beach to find my garden bursting with growth and some flowers. So, I cut a small bouquet for the kitchen.
