I feel like so many of us are really craving spring this year. I know the weather may be different where you are (and some of you may be headed for autumn right now instead of spring)... But, here in Central PA, it feels as though winter has been particularly cold and drawn out this year. As a result, I find myself looking for warmth and plants and anything that doesn't resemble the cold, grey winter outside.

These are the carnations that just will not quit. They have now been on my countertop for over a month, and they are still going strong! They've faded the slightest bit, and I think I actually like the more muted tones than the vibrant pinks of a few weeks ago.

I adore snake plants. I can't quite tell you why, but these caught my eye. I love all of the yellow haphazard lines. And, of course, the Edge 50 adds some fun blur and interest to the shot.

I have no idea what this flower is called. I wish I could say it was blooming in my yard right now, but it's not. Perhaps I cheated a bit because I headed off to Longwood Gardens earlier this week, and I spotted these flowers there. They were basking in a little puddle of sunlight, so I had to give them their moment.

Controlled Burn.
While visiting Longwood Gardens with a friend earlier in the week, we stumbled on the controlled burn of a section of the meadow. This photo doesn't do it justice (but the best lens I had on me was just an 85). It was incredible to watch, and it felt so appropriate to how I am feeling in the current political climate here in the US. I didn't expect to have a strong feeling about it, but alas, I did.

I loved the way the smoke from the controlled burn was billowing up into the sky. This one was OK in color. I loved the hazy smoke against the trees in the foreground and background, and black and white just seemed to give it the punch that it needed.

I sometimes joke that I can turn just about any situation into an opportunity for street photography. I guess it's more like documentary photography sometimes. Some people may say I'm nosy, but I just like to think I'm observant.

Last, but certainly not least... the snowdrops!
As I was walking with the dog yesterday, I spotted a patch of snowdrops at the park. So, naturally, I finished my walk, grabbed the camera, jumped in the car, and drove back to the park to make sure I got a photo to commemorate the first snowdrops of the year.
